What will the Jets do at Quarterback?

The most important position in football is empty right now for the New York Jets. Last week the Jets announced that they will be parting ways with Aaron Rodgers after two seasons. There isn’t a clear player on the roster that would be obvious to move into the starting spot. With a new head coach and a completely different looking team in 2025, what will the Jets do to address the quarterback position?

The first option for the Jets would be to fill the position from within. That move would likely be to start Tyrod Taylor, the veteran quarterback who has been primarily a backup for his entire 13-year career. He would act as a bridge quarterback.

Also, on the roster the Jets have Adrian Martinez and Jordan Travis. Two young quarterbacks who could be given a chance to start next season if the Jets don’t bring in another veteran or top rookie. Neither player has seen a snap in a regular-season game.

The second option for the Jets would be to go out and sign or trade for a veteran quarterback. The market isn’t great right now. Russell Wilson, Daniel Jones, the young Justin Fields or a reunion with Sam Darnold seem like the best options on the free-agent market.

Lastly, the Jets could get a quarterback in the draft who may have the ability or chance to start as a rookie. With pick No. 7 it is unlikely that they get one of the top-two players in Cam Ward or Shedeur Sanders. Those players aren’t expected to fall past pick six. A trade up or getting a quarterback in a later round is also possible.

The Aaron Rodgers era was short but not uneventful. Maybe even the spotlight and media that comes with Aaron Rodgers was too much for a New York team, especially since he wasn’t winning. Rodgers played just a few snaps in his first season in New York before winning just five games this past year.

The Jets need to fill the most important position in the NFL this offseason. They have various options and ways to do it, we will just have to wait and see what they do.
