The New York Yankees’ run for their 28th World Series title has come to an end. It was an impressive season that ended in New York on their home field. This team had some of the top talent in the MLB but so did the Los Angeles Dodgers. These two powerhouse teams, who are two of the most well known and most historic in the history of the league, met up in the World Series in a battle of two giants.

The Yankees and Dodgers historically have met 12 times in the World Series. New York had won eight of those meetings and now the Dodgers have won four of them. Before the season these teams were the favorites and were clear choices to make it to this point. The fans and league got what they wanted and it made for an entertaining World Series matchup.

The Dodgers took the first three games in this seven-game series. In game four the Yankees showed some life, winning in commanding fashion 11-4. Game five looked like it would go the same way. The Dodgers could win the series with a win in that game but the Yankees took a 5-0 lead after three innings. In the fifth inning the Dodgers scored five runs to tie the game. New York scored one more run before the Dodgers scored two in the eighth inning to go up 7-6 and then closed the game and series out from there.

With these two extremely popular MLB teams loaded with talent and numerous of the top stars from the league, this was a dream matchup. It was two of the most dominant teams in the league facing off against one another. This one could have gone either way and it appeared in game five that the Yankees would make this an even more interesting series.

In the end, the Dodgers won in just five games, winning four to just one Yankee win. Give the Dodgers credit as they came back in game five to close out the 2024 World Series title, their eighth in the history of the franchise. It was a valiant effort by this Yankees team but they came up just short. Their last title was in 2009.
