Who Will the Jets Next Head Coach Be?

The New York Jets fired their head coach Robert Saleh after just five games this season. Their record was 2-3 at the time and it was a surprising move that early in the season. If the move was a good one or not is up for debate still as the Jets went on to win just three more games after that point. In this one let’s look at who could be the Jets’ new head coach for the 2025 season.
The Jets’ defensive coordinator Jeff Ulbrich took over for Saleh for the sixth game of the season. As the interim head coach he went on to win just three more games and lose nine. It was thought that Ulbrich could be considered to remain the head coach next season. Now, it appears that won’t be the case. The Jets have already been interviewing a slew of head coaching candidates.

It’s been reported by NFL insider Adam Schefter that the Jets have already interviewed or have requested interviews from a long list of coaches. This list includes: Mike Vrabel and Ron Rivera who have already been interviewed and also Rex Ryan, Brian Flores, Josh McCown, Joe Brady, Matt Nagy, Arthur Smith, Brian Griese, Aaron Glenn, Vance Joseph, and Bobby Slowik. Let’s look at some of the interesting names on the list.
Rex Ryan was the Jets’ head coach from 2009-2014. It has been said that he is confident he will become the next head coach despite his public statements against current starting quarterback, Aaron Rodgers. Ryan is known as an intense coach but a leader of men. That has been the trend of successful new head coaches in the NFL.
Another candidate is Aaron Glenn. Glenn is the defensive coordinator for the Detroit Lions and is close with their head coach, Dan Campbell. If a team like New York thinks that Glenn can replicate some of the success that Campbell has done with the Lions, it makes a lot of sense.
The other name on the list that has sparked interest is Joe Brady, the offensive coordinator for the Buffalo Bills. He has led this team to become one of the top offenses. He is also young at just 35-years-old and could lead a youth movement for the Jets, especially if they decide to move on from both Rodgers and Davante Adams.
So, who will the next Jets’ head coach be? We have a long list of potential candidates. The three most intriguing right now seem to be Rex Ryan, Aaron Glenn, and Joe Brady.
