It’s that time again when the Jets and Giants take the field for the NFL season opener. This Sunday night the Giants will be in action center stage on Sunday Night football. Meanwhile, the Jets will be set to play on Monday Night football against the other team up north in New York, the Buffalo Bills. Let’s dive into what we can expect for these season-opening matchups.

Giants at Cowboys

The Giants open up the year against one of their longtime-division rivals, the Dallas Cowboys. Last year the Giants had their most wins in a season since 2016 but still lost to Dallas both times they played them. For this game the Giants are still underdogs but by just a small margin. Expect a close and hard-fought game from both sides.

Making plays on offense is what will likely be the deciding factor for the Giants in this game. Last year they did fairly well on defense holding Dallas to 28 and 23 points but were not able to make enough plays on offense to keep up with them. This year Saquon Barkley will look to make a bigger impact against Dallas along with newcomer Darren Waller to get them a win in week one.

The Jets will begin the season at home but expect a healthy amount of Bills fans to make the trip down from Buffalo. At this point last season the Bills were seen as the Super Bowl favorite and now not much has changed as they are seen as one of the few favorites to win it this year. It will be a tough matchup for the Jets in their first game as Buffalo’s roster is solid from top to bottom.

This is a big division rivalry that the Jets won last year as they shocked the Bills in week nine handing them just their second loss of the season at that point. These two defenses were dominant last year as both offenses struggled to get anything going. The Jets are hoping that the addition of Aaron Rodgers can help break them free of that defensive battle these teams found themselves in last year.

The Bills are small favorites in this game on the road. Even as underdogs the Jets should feel good about potentially beating the Bills with an improved offense and top defense behind them. It will be a great follow up game to the Giants on Sunday Night football as the NFL wraps up week one of the season with this matchup.
