Welcome Back to Couch Potato

Welcome to another weekly installment of Couch Potato, where I go over what went down on the big and small screens so you can be a better-informed viewer.

Box Office Watch

Thanks to an incredible second-weekend hold and the noticeable lack of backlash, GOAT climbed to first place this week. The newest family-friendly movie on the block added another $17 million to its $58.3 million total at the domestic box office.

This knocked last week’s number one movie, Wuthering Heights, down to second place, with $14.2 million added to its $60 million domestic and $151.7 million global totals.

The only newcomer to find its way into the conversation was I Can Only Imagine 2, rounding out the “Top of the Top 10” with a debut weekend of $8 million.

Netflix Movie Rankings

Over on the Netflix charts, Tyler Perry continues to be a valuable asset for the streamer. Joe’s College Road Trip debuted in first place with 12.5 million views.

The only repeat entry on the movies chart was on the backs of true crime viewers, as The Investigation of Lucy Letby added another 6.6 million views during its second week on the charts.

The live-action remake of How to Train Your Dragon entered the conversation this week with 6.1 million views, rounding out the “Top of the Top 10.”

The Lincoln Lawyer continued to be a red-hot show with another 9.6 million views during its second week on the platform.

The second familiar face is Bridgerton, right behind it with another 9.4 million views.

Rounding out the “Top of the Top 10,” Jeffrey Epstein: Filthy Rich climbed its way up the charts after a few weeks to enter into our conversations with 8.4 million views.

Looking Ahead

Stay tuned for that, and until next time, happy viewing!
