Are the Buffalo Bills Done this Year?

It has truly been an up and down season for the Buffalo Bills. Actually, it started with a down. In week one the Bills played the New York Jets and the Aaron Rodgers injury forced Zach Wilson into quarterback duty who looked scared to be out there but they ultimately defeated the Bills.

Following that was a major up. The Bills won three games in a row, including beating the Miami Dolphins 48-20 who were seen as the best offense in the league at that point. Since then they have gone 2-4, which includes Monday night’s loss to the Denver Broncos that was a major-low point on the season.

Following that loss to the Broncos on Monday, the Bills fired their offensive coordinator Ken Dorsey. There is no question that the Bills didn’t deserve to win that game after their offensive mishaps that included two lost fumbles and two interceptions but it was a game they should have won.

On 3rd and 10 and 45 yards away from the end zone, Denver’s Russell Wilson threw up a high-flying ball and got a pass interference call to extend the drive and put Denver in field-goal range. From there the Broncos missed a field goal that was negated by another Buffalo penalty. The next field goal attempt went through to defeat the Bills 22-24.

Now the Bills are 5-5 and are currently 10th in the AFC. Many people believe that Buffalo is done for but that may be too soon of a call to make. There is no doubt that Buffalo has struggled but a new offensive game plan may be just what the Bills need.

Buffalo fired Ken Dorsey and that change may be for the best. The Bills have so much talent on offense with Josh Allen who has one of the best arms in the league and with his big stature he can run on any defense. They also have an elite receiver in Stefon Diggs complimented by a big deep threat Gabe Davis, a nice looking rookie tight end in Dalton Kincaid, and two good running backs in James Cook and Latavius Murray.

For everyone who thinks that the Bills are done this season may want to rethink that take. This team could easily turn the corner as they are just one win behind Miami for the lead in the AFC East. They’re also still at .500 after a tumultuous start to the season.

If Buffalo is going to make a run at the playoffs they have to fix this quickly. Their next game is against the Jets but then they play Philadelphia, Kansas City, and Dallas in the following three games. Buffalo can save this season but have to figure it out now.
